Guide · minimum space

A workshop in roughly one square metre.

At this scale, the objective is not to keep a workshop permanently open. It is to create a safe working state and then recover the room.

One clear working rectangle

Protect a single rectangle for your feet, posture and the job. Do not permanently fill its edges with boxes. The work surface should fold, hang or leave the room when the task ends.

Use the wall selectively

Wall storage helps only when it does not project into head, shoulder or door space. Put frequent, light items within easy reach and keep heavy equipment low. Use appropriate fixings for the wall and load.

Choose one closed storage unit

One box or small stack is easier to control than several unrelated containers. Divide consumables inside it and leave space for the accessories that arrive with future tools.

Keep services movable

A portable light and compact extraction system can follow the work. Their cables and hoses still need a stored location and must not cross the exit during use.

Priority order: clear floor, folding work surface, task light, closed storage, then extraction matched to the operations you actually perform.

Try your actual dimensions in the space checker and compare folding workbenches.
